A Special Event Roadway Permit is required if you are planning to organize an outdoor event or activity which requires a temporary road closure within the Municipality of North Perth. This can include municipal roads, lanes, or sidewalks within the municipal road allowance. Additionally, any planned events to be held on municipal property will require a permit, such as municipal owned parking lots, parks, trails, etc. Special events include, but are not limited to: parades, running/walkathons/race events, festivals, and outdoor concerts.

Other Approvals Required

To apply for a permit, a completed Special Events Application including the Special Events Checklist and Emergency Response and Operation Plan Framework for Special Events document must be forwarded to the Legislative Services Department. Before a permit can be issued, approval of the event must be obtained through a passed Council resolution. Special event barricades will not be provided to requested events until payment has been made through Permit Central.

Insurance

As per The Municipality of North Perth By-Law No. 110-2019, Being a By-law to Regulate Special Events in the Municipality of North Perth, every Applicant shall provide proof of insurance in a form and in an amount satisfactory to the Treasurer, based on the nature and type of the Special Event. The proof of insurance shall name the Municipality as an additional insured with a cross liability endorsement and severability of interests' provision. If deemed necessary by the Treasurer, the insurance shall include additional coverage as deemed to be appropriate. All insurance shall contain an endorsement to provide the Municipality with thirty (30) days prior written notice of any cancellation or change to the insurance policy.
